How to File a New CE Class

You may choose to write a brand new course for an upcoming program. CAHU will need to submit your new course to the Department of Insurance to obtain approval of the course for CE credit. You will need to give CAHU at least 60 days to complete the paperwork to get your new qualified for credit.

The process begins by submitting a course outline to CAHU. The course outline should include a detailed statement as to how the course is relevant to insurance topics and/or insurance products. The outline should show how much time will be spent discussing each area (plan on a one-page outline for every hour of CE credit desired). Give CAHU any handouts you plan to distribute at the class.

CAHU will submit your outline and accompanying handouts to the DOI on a Course Approval Application form. The DOI will take approximately 45 days to review the application. If the course is approved, the DOI will give CAHU a course number which can then be used in publicity and subsequent CE paperwork
